As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow
Salama Kassab was a pharmacy student living a normal life in Syria when the cries for freedom began. Now, she volunteers at a hospital in Homs, tending to the wounded daily. Desperate to escape before her sister-in-law Layla gives birth, Salama is haunted by Khawf, a physical embodiment of her fear, urging her to leave.
Torn between loyalty to her country and her will to survive, Salama faces bullets, bombs, and moral dilemmas. When she crosses paths with a boy from her past, she questions her resolve to leave. As she begins to see the conflict as a revolution, Salama must decide how she will cry for Syria's freedom.
